I had a kick joining the Take a Hike group last month. I brought the PenTV camera along and shot this video.
This weekend they’re inviting you to bring your dog. On a leash, of course. So, I’ll be there too. (No leash for me, I just walk the camera) Hopefully will get some great footage of some doggies on a hike.
Here’s San Mateo County Take A Hike’s official press release:
Dogs Join Take A Hike August 18 at Pillar Point Bluff
Visit Pillar Point Bluff in Moss Beach with Take A Hike on Saturday, August 18 at 9 a.m. The Bluff offers hikers, joggers and dog walkers a chance to take in the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean. Now part of the James V. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach, the top of the bluff includes a section of the California Coastal Trail and offers views of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and other landmarks.
On clear days visitors can see shorebirds, harbor seals and even otters playing in the reef. To the east of the bluff, wetlands and marsh areas provide habitat for at-risk species such as the California red-legged frog, San Francisco garter snake and several types of birds. Across Highway 1, the tilled farm fields and the protected Rancho Corral de Tierra create a panoramic backdrop to the whole scene. Dogs on leash are welcome to join the hike at Pillar Point Bluff, the only San Mateo County Park that allows dogs.
The hike will start from the parking at 9 a.m. Come prepared by dressing in layers. We recommend that you bring a refillable water bottle, hat and sunscreen.
