Summary: Two major events have put San Mateo County first responders to the test. First, an airplane crashlands at SFO and burst into flames a little while afterwards. Then, less than 24 hours later, a 6-alarm apartment fire leaves 100 people homeless. Two pretty big events here on the peninsula in a very brief period of time. With them all has been the American Red Cross. They’ve been out to each scene, serving meals, helping people out. What is the American Red Cross’ mission, where do they get the resources to do this?
