The Burlingame Neighborhood Network and the Burlingame Lions Club invite you to a free event that will help you get prepared for emergencies.
At “Make Your Emergency Kit in One Day” on Saturday, June 24, you’ll learn how to prepare emergency kits for your family, home and workplace. You’ll be able to buy some items for your earthquake kit on the spot, at reasonable prices. And you’ll receive a list to help you complete your kit on your own, as soon as that afternoon, along with handouts summarizing basic emergency advice.
Our speaker is Suzanne Tateosian, owner of a Burlingame company called Earth Shakes that works with major firms such as Oracle, UCSF and many banks. She is offering up to a 20 percent discount on some emergency kits and survival items to Burlingame and Hillsborough residents.
Suzanne will bring difficult-to-find items for your kits, including five-year shelf-life water (30 cents per pouch), 50-year shelf-life Blue Can Water ($29.95 per case of 24), empty red back packs ($8.50), five-year shelf-life food bar rations ($4.50), Mylar space blankets ($1.75), leather palm gloves ($2), waterproof matches (50 cents), N95 dust masks ($1.20), whistles on lanyards (30 cents), and solar and crank radios with flashlights ($26.55). She also offers prepackaged kits for home, car and work. There will also be a variety of solar and crank flashlights, cell phone chargers and the latest in water filtration items. She accepts checks and credit cards. There is no obligation to purchase anything at this meeting.
This event will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on June 24 in the Burlingame Lions Club Hall at 990 Burlingame Ave., Burlingame. Admission is free.
