The Game – 242 – Supervisors Slocum and Horsley

Consistently, Peninsula residents rank as their two greatest concerns, the shortage of housing and the abundance of traffic. We take an in-depth look at both these difficult issues with two local political leaders who are trying to provide some solutions. The Game is Our Way of Life, the Game is on.

Has San Mateo County become a victim of its own success? A booming economy has remade the Peninsula into a major employment center with unprecedented traffic that is choking our major
roadways. At the same time, our quality of life makes this one of the most desirable places to live in the country, and one of the most expensive.

Nearly two years ago, our guests, San Mateo County Supervisors Don Horsley and Warren Slocum, formed the San Mateo County Jobs/Housing Task Force, a gathering of stakeholders representing business, labor, elective office, developers and residents and renters. The result is Home4All, a group working to support more housing in the county.

The Supervisors also led a 2016 campaign to provide county financial support for housing construction, and then backed it by allocating nearly $4 million in the next two years to a wide range of programs to build more housing.
