Five candidates are running for the 13th Senate District seat being vacated by Jerry Hill and we’re interviewing each of the candidates.
It’s Burlingame Councilman Michael Brownrigg’s turn. The Game is politics. The Game is on.
Welcome to The Game.
With popular incumbent state Senator Jerry Hill termed out, five Democrats are in a wide-open race to replace him in the 13th Senate District seat. In September, we will be holding an hour-long forum with all the candidates that will air here on Peninsula TV. Right now, we’re interviewing each of the candidates individually. It’s a huge district with nearly one million residents, and it ranges from South San Francisco to Sunnyvale.
Our guest is Burlingame Councilman Michael Brownrigg. After serving on the Burlingame Planning Commission for eight years, he won a seat on the city council in 2009 and was reelected in 2013 and 2017. He has been mayor twice in 2014 and 2018. He is co-founder of Total Impact Capital, a social investment firm that focuses on community-based investments in such things as health care, clean water and the environment. In 2018, he co-founded Middle Bridge Capital, which buys established companies and transforms them into employee-owned companies. He served in the foreign service under three presidential administrations and was an aide to a Southern California congressman.
